The Chainsaw Hollies are a power pop band from Dortmund .

history

The band was founded in 1993 by Axel Christian Ludwig, better known by his nickname "Atze" Ludwig , former tour guitarist of the Ace Cats and then until 1990 member of the band Depp Jones , the guitarist Tex Morton and the drummer Willi Henke. At the beginning, Hagen Liebing also rehearsed, but then he concentrated on his career as an editor. After a few appearances, the band got a record deal with Sony Music Entertainment .

For the demo recordings for the debut album Bob , Bela B. made the studio of Conny Plank available, with whose partner Christa Fast he recorded the radio play Die Nixe / The Mermaid in 1992 , and which then left the studio to him for some time . The demo recordings produced by Bela B. together with Rodrigo González did not appear on the album, however, and the band did not claim to publish professional sound carriers. The album was then produced by Rainbirds bassist Michael Beckmann . The title Goin 'Up appeared on some promo samplers and as a single release. The songs Stupid Hats and Soapsods from the album can also be heard on the single .

The Chainsaw Hollies were then taken over by Gringo Records . Tex Morton left the band before the recording of the second album My One Weakness and went to Berlin . In the meanwhile published EP Sarah Said , whose title song appeared on several samplers, Morton was replaced by Manu Münzel, with the album recordings a fourth man was omitted. My One Weakness was already recorded in 1996, but the record publisher Intercord was not found until 1997 after the loss of Metronome Records to distribute the sound carrier . With the track Saturday , which was also released as a single, musicians from the bands Die Ärzte , TASS , Samael and Grip Inc. supported the 1997 tribute album with an English-language cover version Cry For Love of the doctors song Schrei nach Liebe GötterDÄmmerung - Tribut An Die Beste Band der Welt represented and also appeared in 1998 as a tour supporter for the Doctors.

In 1999 the last album for the time being was released with the title Lifetime Guarantee . The cover artwork was drawn by the American artist Frank Kozik . The song Down The Lane appeared as part of several compilations and also on the EP It's A Good Life , on which Cry For Love can also be found. According to the band, the album is part of a trilogy in which the focus was on ensuring that all tracks can be played live exactly like this.

No publications have appeared since 2000. The band has not broken up to this day.
