He tells Penny about the "fling" that led to the breakup at the time and persuades her to arrange a meeting. The two speak up and decide to try again. Amy's proposal to meet a woman in a bar turns out to be fruitless, so he makes use of the pact between Howard and him (see season 3, episode 5) and Bernadette introduces him to one of her friends. But this turns out to be too boyish and does not correspond to Leonard's ideas at all. Meanwhile, Sheldon panics because Amy wants to introduce him to her mother and he misinterprets this as a sign of her desire for a "real" relationship. He tries by all means to avoid her, but the whole thing turns out to be a misunderstanding, because Amy just wanted to pretend her mother was having a "real" relationship. | ||||||||

It also turns out that he had done this several years earlier on Priya's first visit without anyone knowing about it. This time, however, both are caught by Sheldon and Leonard asks his roommate to keep the secret to himself. Ultimately, the secret comes out while eating in the university cafeteria, because Leonard fails to lie to Rajesh and Howard.
