Sheldon and Amy have been together for two years. As stated in the relationship agreement, Amy demands a romantic dinner. Sheldon also invites Rajesh to do so. Amy, who hoped to finally deepen the relationship with Sheldon, is of course not very enthusiastic, but after a while Rajesh voluntarily vacates the field and goes to Penny and Leonard, who had planned a TV evening for two. Since Leonard had previously annoyed Penny with relationship talks, she is initially happy about Rajesh's appearance and both enjoy a football game with plenty of beer, while Leonard sits pouting next to them. However, when Rajesh begins to give the two of them relationship advice and asks Penny to finally tell Leonard that she loves him, he is kicked out and he seeks Stuart in the comic book store. However, he spoils the moment again by declaring that he has quoted from a film. In the meantime, Howard has arrived safely on the ISS , but cannot concentrate on his work there because his mother and Bernadette are constantly asking him about the planned housing situation. While Bernadette wants him to move in with her and finally tell his mother this, his mother wants him to stay with her. Howard does not want to hurt the feelings of the two and puts himself in a bind by not clearing the situation, but satisfying both of them with lies for the time being.

Penny tells Amy and Bernadette that she isn't sure if she really loves Leonard. Amy tells this to Sheldon, who, as always, has a big problem keeping the secret to himself. He tries to explain the situation to Leonard in a cumbersome way with a conversation about the Transformers , but Leonard thinks he is talking about himself and Amy. Sheldon later even wakes Leonard in the middle of the night to finally get rid of the secret, but decides not to say anything and instead wakes Penny to confront her. He hates change and therefore wants her to stay with Leonard regardless of how she feels so that everything stays the way it is. Penny is upset by Sheldon's interference and makes him realize that it is none of his business. Nevertheless, at the next dinner with Leonard, she dares to try to talk to him about her feelings, but has no heart to tell the truth and the whole thing ends in a night together. Meanwhile, Stuart, eyed critically by Sheldon, tries to take Howard's place in the group, while the latter is annoyed by the other astronauts on the space station and complains to Bernadette about it. After the Higgs boson has been proven and a Nobel Prize is in prospect for the discoverer, Sheldon suspects that he too wrote a work worthy of the Nobel Prize a long time ago. He had his mother send all the documents from his childhood to him and hired a young assistant named Alex Jensen to sift through his work. Amy calls Sheldon's office one day, discovers that Alex is a woman and is scared that she might attack Sheldon. You and Penny go to college to spy on Sheldon. To Amy's relief, the two see the group in the cafeteria, where Alex is flirting with Leonard. Penny is not very happy about this, and when Alex and Sheldon come to Leonard and Penny's apartment in the evening, Penny grabs Leonard in front of Alex's eyes and disappears with him into their apartment. In the meantime, Howard, who is starting to suffer from claustrophobia and paranoia, complains that his return journey from the ISS is likely to be delayed by seven to ten days. The other astronauts finally give him a syringe which overshoots the target.

Howard comes back from space, but nobody seems to have time for him or to care about him. When he returns, not all of his friends await him, as he had hoped, but only Bernadette, who persuaded the others that the first evening should be theirs. However, nothing comes of the night together, because Bernadette has caught the flu. Howard then first seeks out his mother, who has an unexpected male visit, and then Rajesh, where he finds out that he now seems to have found a new best friend in Stuart and has even let him move in with him. Sad and disappointed, Howard sits down alone in a café, where he finally gets a little bit of attention after the waitress recognizes him as an astronaut. After Penny and Amy win over Leonard and Sheldon because of Sheldon's overly complicated approach at the Pictionary, the two demand revenge. As a result, a competition between the two teams develops in increasingly bizarre game disciplines, from which Penny and Amy always emerge as winners.

When Hawking does play again after a while, Sheldon is overjoyed and, contrary to his belief, lets him win on purpose so as not to mess with his new "friend". However, this leads to Hawking calling him and mocking him on the phone as a loser. Meanwhile, Penny tells Leonard that she is going to evening school and will soon have to hand in her first housework. She doesn't want him to help her, but Leonard's concern about the quality of her first housework outweighs it and he reads it secretly, which confirms his concern. He decides, despite Penny's express request, to completely rewrite her work, which the two of them get into an argument about. During the filming of a new episode of Sheldon's webcast "Fun with Flags" there is an argument between guest star Wil Wheaton and Amy, who constantly has something to complain about in his acting performance. When Wil Wheaton insults Amy and Sheldon takes his side, she is mad at her boyfriend. After Sheldon has understood the situation and his reconciliation gift does not have the desired effect, he asks Penny for advice, who serves him a special "tea" (an alcoholic Long Island Iced Tea ), even though he does not actually drink alcohol. In a drunk state, Sheldon sets out to confront Wil Wheaton and defend Amy's honor in a fight. He apologizes, but shortly afterwards Sheldon vomits in his front yard. Howard notices that Sheldon leaves the group every day between 2:45 and 3:05 p.m., and not even his assistant Alex knows what he is doing during this time. As a result, he and Rajesh desperately want to discover the secret and secretly follow Sheldon to a small room in the basement of the university. The following night both of them break in there, but find only an inconspicuous room with a blackboard on which the number 43 is written. A guerrilla war breaks out between the two, who each stubbornly insist on their points of view and want to get their way through by all means. Amy and Bernadette also get into an argument about it and Bernadette finally even has Amy's car, with which Sheldon wanted to block the parking lot, towed away. Howard is invited to dinner with Bernadette and her parents. The mood is chilly, as Howard feels very uncomfortable in the presence of her parents and especially does not get on well with her father, which is also mutual. To improve the relationship between her father and her husband, Bernadette arranges a fishing trip for the two of them. In order not to embarrass himself and since the other boys also have no idea about fishing and similar "male activities", Howard lets Penny teach him some basics, but he cannot overcome his disgust. The boys are planning a dungeons and dragons evening to which their friends are expressly not invited. Instead, they have a girls' evening, to which Rajesh also enthusiastically comes after his role-playing character dies right at the beginning of the game. He spends time with Amy, Penny and Bernadette in a bar, where the three of them try to set him up with a woman. However, this turns out to be difficult because of Rajesh's claims, and when he also offends Amy by saying that he already had a crush on Penny and Bernadette, but not with them, the evening seems completely ruined. However, they both discover some similarities and are reconciled after Rajesh begins to feel affection for Amy. Sheldon is called in there and makes things worse with his clumsy remarks to the HR manager. He tries to put his offense into perspective by blaspheming Leonard, Rajesh and Howard and their misconduct, which is why in the end all four are informed about correct behavior in the workplace in the personnel office and Sheldon is also condemned to an online seminar on sexual harassment in the workplace. He finally apologizes to Alex, but passes the seminar on to her because he considers his time to be too precious.

In order to finally understand what makes the boys so excited, Bernadette suggests to Amy and Penny that they should read some comics themselves. To the astonished gaze of the regular audience, they get some comics in Stuart's comic book store and soon get into a heated debate about them. On the way, the four boys come to a place where exterior shots were made for various Star Trek episodes and decide to do a spontaneous photo shoot in their costumes. However, her car and cell phone are stolen. Nobody wants to hitchhike them and they have to set out on foot through the desert. Eventually they reach a café, from which Howard can call his mother and organize a rental car. However, since everyone except Rajesh has lost their interest in Comic-Con, they return home. On their return they will hear witnesses like Amy, Bernadette and Penny still passionately discussing Thor's hammer and decide to investigate the matter in the style of a Star Trek field mission.

Sheldon of course assumes that Kripke's work is unworthy of him, but then has to admit that Kripke has achieved the far better results so far. In order not to show his nakedness, he agrees with Kripke when Kripke assumes that it all comes from Sheldon's excessive sex life with Amy, which completely distracts him from work. However, this leads to the fact that Kripke is more interested in Sheldon and Amy's supposed activities than in the joint research project and holes Sheldon with intimate questions. Leonard invites Penny to a candlelit dinner on Valentine's Day, which Howard and Bernadette also join after Howard accidentally breaks his self-made gift (a microscopic declaration of love). Bernadette is irritable because of the work and Howard's unwillingness to help her around the house, and the two argue at the table while Penny watches as one of her ex-boyfriends proposes marriage to his new girlfriend, with whom he had cheated on Penny at the time power. This spoils her sense of romance, which leads to an argument with Leonard. This makes Bernadette realize that her own problems are not that bad, so she reconciles with Howard. Once at home, Leonard gives Penny the most suitable present: He promises her not to propose (another) marriage and to leave this step to her. In the meantime, Sheldon has asked his assistant Alex to organize a present for Amy, but he only accepts one of the worried presents, which he then keeps himself. Amy then surprises Sheldon later by foregoing all romantic circumstances and instead watching Star Wars with him. Moved, he reciprocates by telling Amy that he has used her as his contact person for emergencies. She is very impressed with the gesture, but soon realizes that it leads to a lot of unnecessary phone calls. Rajesh goes on a date with Lucy, the young woman he previously met at the comic book store (see previous episode). After a while, however, Lucy escapes from the café under an excuse. Rajesh is devastated because of this and does not leave his apartment, which will soon be littered with garbage. He has renounced the world of women and prefers to stuff food into himself while he is sitting on the couch, only wearing underpants. Meanwhile, Lucy regrets her behavior and reappears in the comic book store, where she gives Howard a slip of paper with her phone number for Rajesh. Another meeting comes and it turns out that she ran away because she was overwhelmed with the date because of her social phobia. Both agree to meet again at which Rajesh wants to prove to her that he himself has major problems in social interaction, especially with women. Meanwhile, Penny appears as a guest in Sheldon's YouTube series “Fun with Flags” and shows him a few tricks to appear more natural and to be more open with the audience. When Sheldon thanks her for this, she invites him and Amy to a theater performance in which she plays herself. Sheldon rejects this at first, but Amy finally convinces her boyfriend to do something nice for Penny in return. So he inevitably accepts her invitation, expecting to spend a boring evening. However, he even likes the play and Penny's acting performance in the end.

Rajesh has the arranged date with Lucy in the library in the previous episode - instead of speaking, they text each other so Rajesh can stay sober. Both have fun and get to know each other better, but when it comes to the kiss goodbye, Lucy has a panic attack at the last second and flees from the situation. In the meantime, Leonard, Howard, and Sheldon have to fulfill contractual obligations and try to get young girls interested in science. Howard arranges an appointment at his former school, where Leonard tries in vain to portray science as "cool" and finally only talks about his unhappy childhood, Sheldon, as always, shows little sensitivity and Howard is not taken seriously as an astronaut by the girls. Meanwhile, the women stay away from work and go to Disneyland, where they can be dressed up as princesses. Before they throw a party, Howard and Bernadette talk about their overcrowded closet. Howard suggests showing this to Sheldon, because he would voluntarily clean up the chamber through his obsessive sense of order. During the party, Sheldon annoys Bernadette and asks Howard to show him the closet. Sheldon, of course, brings order to the chamber and finds a letter that Howard had received from his father on his 18th birthday and had left unopened until then. Howard burns the letter unread as he is unsure whether he would even want to read the excuses he made for leaving him and his mother. Over the next few days, all friends gradually get Sheldon, who has read the letter, to reveal the contents to them until finally only Howard does not know him. When Bernadette confesses this to him at Leonard and Penny's party, he leaves the party angrily. At Sheldon's suggestion, his friends decide that each should tell him a different version of the letter, only one of which is the correct one. As a result, Howard learned the truth, but at the same time does not know it, since it remains open which version is the right one. Howard actually feels better afterward, and wishes all of these stories were true. Everyone returns to the party and Sheldon is cleaning up Penny too. After the death of Prof. Tupperman, a permanent position became available at the institute. Sheldon, Leonard, Rajesh and Barry Kripke are desperate for this position and are doing everything possible to win over the members of the awarding committee. This includes the head of the HR department, Mrs. Davis, who Sheldon is particularly remembered for Alex's complaint about sexual harassment. Leonard and Kripke try to ingratiate themselves with her while exercising, but Leonard suffers an asthma attack when he tries to talk to Mrs. Davis at the same time during an exercise. Sheldon, who has already made a mistake with Mrs. Davis, gives the African-American woman a DVD of the Roots series and the other members of the committee also receive similarly stereotypical gifts from him. Because of Rajesh's problem with speaking to women when sober, he sends Mrs. Davis a 90-minute video message, which only makes her bored. Initially, Sheldon and Leonard decide not to attend Prof. Tupperman's funeral service in order not to give the impression that they want to ingratiate themselves. After talking to Penny and Amy, they change their minds and go there anyway. Amy discusses with Sheldon what he shouldn't say there and Penny tries to influence members of the committee in the little black dress. An argument breaks out, but the group ultimately decides to work together to prevent Barry Kripke from getting the job. Sheldon later apologizes to Mrs. Davis for his gift and thanks that the three friends made it into the final selection. In the end he irritates her again with a strange handshake.

Sheldon and Leonard cheer him up, however, by explaining to him how important his childhood TV shows were for them and other scientists today and that their scientific discoveries are therefore indirectly his. Under the leadership of game master Howard, who inspires Sheldon with his voice imitations, everyone has a lively evening. Leonard gets the opportunity through Howard to spend four months researching hydrodynamic simulations of black holes on a ship on the North Sea in a research team led by Stephen Hawking . Penny is initially not enthusiastic about this expedition, but she realizes the uniqueness of this opportunity and lets Leonard embark on the journey. In the course of saying goodbye to Leonard, the friends organize a party for him. Meanwhile, Rajesh wants to introduce Lucy to his friends, but she is not very enthusiastic about it. However, she can be persuaded to only get to know one person from his circle of friends first. Amy was chosen because she always felt like an outsider and has found a family through Sheldon and Leonard. At the meeting, however, Rajesh puts Lucy under pressure because he wants to know if she is his boyfriend. After he apologizes to her, she agrees to appear at Leonard's farewell party. There, however, Rajesh only receives an email from her in which she breaks up with him, and then leaves the party with a broken heart. The next day, Penny and Sheldon take Leonard to the airport, where they confess their love and Leonard gives her a farewell present. Penny then goes to Rajesh to comfort him. It turns out that through the emotional chaos with Lucy, he can finally talk to women without being drunk.
