Season 7
The first broadcast of the seventh season was from October 4, 2019 to May 15, 2020 on the US television channel NBC . The German-language first release took place on June 26, 2020 on Netflix via streaming .
Originally 22 episodes were planned for the 7th season. In the middle of the filming of the 19th episode "The Kazanjian Brothers" in New York, however, all TV productions were interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic . In order to still end the episode and end the season early, the producers came up with the idea of supplementing the already wacky recordings with animations in comic style. The dialogues for the animated scenes were recorded by the actors at home for a seamless transition between the two styles so the animators and editors could finish their work remotely.
