The Definition of X: Pick of the Litter is a greatest hits album by American rapper DMX . It was released on June 12, 2007 on the labels Ruff Ryders Entertainment and Def Jam Recordings as a standard and limited edition, including DVD .

The songs selected for the album are from the rapper's first five studio albums. With six tracks, most of the pieces from the third album … And Then There Was X are included, while five songs were taken from the debut album It's Dark and Hell Is Hot . Four tracks are from the second album Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood , while three songs are from the fifth album Grand Champ and two tracks are from the fourth album The Great Depression .

The limited edition DVD also contains eight music videos .

Six songs on the album were produced by music producer Swizz Beatz , while PK, Black Key and DJ Shok each contributed two beats. One instrumental each comes from Dame Grease , Irv Gotti , Tuneheadz, Nokio, Self Service, Shatek and Self Service.

The album cover is in black and white and shows DMX looking at the viewer. Top left of the picture are the white lettering DMX and The Definition of and a red X . In the foreground there is a seal with the words Pick of the Litter .

In addition to DMX, other artists are represented on four songs on the album. The rapper Sheek Louch has a guest appearance in the song Get at Me Dog , while the singer Sisqó can be heard on What These Bitches Want . The track Blackout is a collaboration with rapper Jay-Z and rap group The LOX , and on No Love 4 Me DMX is supported by rapper Drag-On and Swizz Beatz .

The Definition of X: Pick of the Litter entered the US charts at number 26 on June 30, 2007 and stayed in the top 200 for eight weeks. In Germany, however, the sound carrier missed the charts.
