Dani Fromm from laut.de rated Year of the Dog… Again with three out of a possible five points. Above all, the production and the more aggressive songs are praised, while the quieter songs are seen rather negatively, because DMX's "voice that sounds as if there is the grater every day for breakfast" doesn't harmonize so well here. Thematically, a lot is predictable, but still entertaining.
