Prodigy Present The Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One is a solo mix album by Liam Howlett , front man of the English big beat band The Prodigy . It was released on February 22, 1999 and was produced for The Breezeblock on BBC Radio 1 .

background

About 50 tracks from different artists were mixed and cut together on the album. The title refers to Howlett's recording studio. The occasion was a guest appearance on the program "The Breezeblock" with Mary Anne Hobbs on the station "Radio 1" in 1998 in which Howlett played a similar mix. However, this version was only used as a promo CD and is now a sought-after rarity due to the limited edition of 25 copies.

To promote sales, an extended version of the broadcast mix was released. The two mixes are not identical as the licenses for some of the pieces used were not available. For example, the Beatles song " Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band " was not allowed to be used. Although Paul McCartney reportedly liked the idea, their record company Apple Records banned any use of the song. The song was replaced by Been Caught Stealing from Jane's Addiction .
