The Heartbreak Motel was a punk rock band from Recklinghausen that was founded in 2001.

Band history

The band initially performed at many newcomer festivals, and they already achieved first place. This was followed by appearances at larger festivals such as Bochum Total in Bochum or at the Traffic Jam Open Air in Dieburg. The band also has considerable success outside of the country's borders. The Heartbreak Motel tours regularly in the Netherlands and Austria and after well over 250 shows already shared the stage with bands like Beatsteaks , Sick of It All and Backyard Babies . Probably the biggest gig so far was on July 1st, 2006 in Münster on the Schlossplatz of the Westphalian Wilhelms University at the MTV Campus Invasion . There they performed next to Danko Jones , the Sportfreunde Stiller , the Bloodhound Gang and Bela B. y los Helmstedt .

In 2007 the new album Handguns Make the Most Love was released on Limited Access Records on April 13, 2007 in Germany , Austria and Switzerland . The record will also be released in the UK , Japan and the USA . The release tour took the band through Germany and Austria for more than two weeks. The festival season they spent u. a. on the stages of the Taubertal Festival , Big Day Out and the Dutch Parkjam Festival, where they played alongside bands like Mando Diao and Beatsteaks . The Heartbreak Motel also played as the opening act on the Beatsteaks tour.

At the beginning of February 2008, the Ruhrpott hardcore band Zero Mentality went to a Danish studio to record a joint Split 7 "& MCD, which was produced by Jacob Bredahl (former singer of the Danish band Hatesphere ).

After further tours, the band went to Claus Grabke's studio in Gütersloh in early 2009 to record a new record . In three months an album was created, which musically went in a direction previously unfamiliar for the band. This album was never released because the band split up in mid-2009.

Since January 26, 2015 someone has been running a Facebook page under the band name, on which several of the songs recorded in 2009 were actually published in the following days. A few weeks later, the band unexpectedly announced a farewell concert on June 27, 2015 in Bochum.
