action

The boy Donal lives with his single mother Kate. In his spare time he works for the owner of the racing dogs Good Joe. Donal rescues a dog that is about to be killed and trains him to race. Meanwhile, Kate reconciles with her ex-boyfriend O, a terrorist who was temporarily in exile.

Reviews

Neil Smith wrote for the BBC on August 22, 2005 that Anderson brought a shot of Hollywood glamor to the film . The story is thin and rather harsh, the film contains images of animal cruelty. McKenna's presentation is promising.

The Hollywood Reporter magazine wrote that the film was well-intentioned, but that it told a predictable story.

Awards

Gillian Anderson received the Audience Award at the Irish Film and Television Awards in 2005 . The film for Best Picture , Pearse Elliott as Screenwriter and Seamus Deasy were nominated for the Irish Film and Television Award .

The film was shot in Belfast and Larne ( Northern Ireland turned). Its production costs were estimated at 2.8 million euros . The world premiere took place on February 11, 2005 at the Dublin Film Festival . On February 15, 2005, the film was shown at the Berlin International Film Festival , which was followed by numerous other film festivals. It was released in UK cinemas on August 26, 2005.
