The Race Club is a renowned American swimming club, which was officially founded in 2003 by Gary Hall junior and is best known for training numerous Olympic athletes and champions. The club is located in Founders Park in Islamorada , Florida ; it has a 50-meter pool with eight lanes and a twelve-foot deep plunge pool.

history

The club's history dates back to 2000 when a talented swimmer team of 13 first came together to train for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney . At that time, this group, which viewed the entire course of their training as an experiment, still appeared under the name The World Team . At this point, the main focus was already on the five training disciplines swimming, strength training, mental training, nutrition and recovery. Of the then 13 athletes, ten took part in the Olympic Games in Australia, six of them were from the United States. Due to the success, the six Americans alone won a total of ten medals, one of these athletes, Gary Hall junior , decided to found The Race Club in Islamorada , Florida in 2003 . He was joined by his father, Gary Hall senior , himself a three-time Olympic medalist.

Together with a designer from England, Hall, Jr. designed the swimming club's logo in the main colors red for fighting spirit and strength and blue for truth and loyalty, and the heraldic animals, two dolphins and a sea griffin . Above all to make sure that the success of 2000 was not a coincidence, they trained for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , where the members of the Race Club won a total of six medals. In 2006 the elite club, which until then only trained professionals, opened its doors to the rest of the world. Training camps were also offered from this time on. In 2008, 17 swimmers from 15 nations who had trained at the Race Club took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , winning a total of eight medals and swuming numerous personal bests.

After that, the club withdrew to a large extent as a training facility for Olympians and specialized more in training and developing one of the world's most advanced swimming camps. The staff of the association currently (as of May 2015) includes Gary Hall senior as technical director and head coach and his wife Mary Hall as manager and accountant, as well as two of their six children, Amy and Richard Hall. While Amy Hall appears as managing director and assistant trainer, Richard Hall is active in video production and analysis as well as an assistant trainer.

To complement the swimming training program, the club sells its own swim nutrition that has been specially formulated for competitive swimmers. There is also a sale of swimwear and leisurewear as well as other equipment. In addition, the club uses special technology in underwater photography in order to make and analyze its own swimming technique videos; DVDs of this are also sold.
