Choggyur Lingpa also had important visions of future Karmapas, up to the twenty-first. These visions were documented in a thangka . The 14th Karmapa's spiritual heir was Kongtrül Lodrö Thaye. Thegchog Dorje gave teachings in large parts of Tibet and recognized the 10th Tai Situpa Pema Künsang Chögyel (1854–1885). He died at the age of 71, leaving a letter with predictions of his next birth. Kongtrül Lodrö Thaye was now the main lineage holder of the Karma Kagyu.
