Khakyab Dorje ( Tib . Mkha 'khyab rdo rje ; * 1871 in Tsang , † 1922 ) was the 15th Karmapa of the Karma Kagyu -School of Tibetan Buddhism .

biography

Khakyab Dorje was found and enthroned by Migyur Wangyel (1823-1883; 9th Gyelwang Drugpa ) - who had a vision of Pelden Lhamo in which she held up a mirror with which she indicated the place of the birth of the Karmapa. At the age of five he could contemplate the sutras . A swirl of hair between his eyebrows was taken as one of the marks of a Buddha . The 15th Karmapa was taught by many well-known students of Tibetan Buddhism ( Vajrayana ). Kongtrül Lodrö Thaye gave him the instructions of his 100 compositions , which include the profound teachings of all Tibetan Buddhist schools and theInclude Tibetan medicine , arts, linguistics, and general Buddhist studies . Also, Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo and Khenchen Trashi Öser (1836-1910) was a teacher of the 15th Karmapa.

Khakyab Dorje gave many teachings in large parts of Tibet and also saved many rare texts from ruin by having them reprinted. The 15th Karmapa was not a monk . He had a partner and two sons, one of whom was recognized as Jamgon Kongtrül Pelden Khyentse Öser (1904–1953; the 2nd Jamgon Kongtrül) and one as Jamyang Rinpoche (1892–1946; the 12th Shamarpa ). His life was an example of the life of a bodhisattva , with an unquenchable thirst to learn in order to be useful to other sentient beings . His most important students were the 11th Tai Situpa Pema Wangchug Gyelpo (1886–1953), his son Jamgon Kongtrül Pelden Khyentse Öser and Beru Khyentse Rinpoche . A few years before he died he wrote a letter with predictions for his next birth, which he left to his servant Jampel Tshälthrim .
