Life

Orgyen Thrinle Dorje was on 26 June 1985 as the eighth of ten children of Tibetan nomads in Bator in the region Lathog ( ལ་ ཐོག la thog / Lāduō Xiang 拉多乡 ) of the circle Qamdo of the district of Qamdo in Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China was born . His organization said that shortly after his birth, numerous miraculous events occurred. On the third day after his birth, all members of the community would have listened to a conch shell and other musical instruments for an hour and a half . As a child he spent four years in a monastery, according to a promise his parents had made to the abbot there if a son would be born again after six daughters.

In 1992 Orgyen Thrinle Dorje was declared 17th Karmapa by monks from Tshurphu Monastery (Tib .: mtshur phu ). Akong Rinpoche also played a role as a representative of Tai Situpa in the search party. The Dalai Lama , Tai Situpa and the Chinese government recognized him as a reincarnation. Orgyen Thrinle Dorje moved to Tshurphu Monastery and his tonsure ceremony took place at Jokang Temple in Lhasa . On September 27, 1992 at noon, the enthronement took place in front of 20,000 monks and pilgrims in the Tshurphu Monastery.

In 1994 Orgyen Thrinle Dorje visited the most important monasteries and temples in Tibet, including the Potala Palace and the Jokhang in Lhasa, Trashilhünpo , Drepung , Sera and Ganden . He then traveled to Beijing at the invitation of the government , where he a. a. Jiang Zemin and Li Peng met and attended the 45th anniversary celebrations of the People's Republic of China. Gyalwa Karmapa by Claude-Max Lochu , for the Temple of Peace, 2008

At first there was confusion about his escape. Chinese media reported that Orgyen Thrinle Dorje left a letter stating that he had made the trip to obtain ritual items. On January 5th, he arrived in Dharamsala and met the 14th Dalai Lama .

In early 2001 the Indian government granted him refugee status and Orgyen Thrinle Dorje went on a pilgrimage to various Buddhist sites in India.

Orgyen Thrinle Dorje has lived in the USA since 2017. He is now a citizen and a passport of a small Caribbean state, the Commonwealth of Dominica , which has been criticized by the Indian government.

On March 4th, 2018 Orgyen Thrinle Dorje published a video on his official YouTube channel. It was translated into English by the official American translator David Karma Choephel. In it he explains several times that he is a simple person, has no connections to the previous Karmapas and, in particular, is not the rebirth of any lama (e.g. 7:45 a.m.).

Police investigation 2011

At the beginning of 2011, two of his closest employees were accused of various currency offenses and arrested, and he himself was interrogated by Indian authorities. His administration is said to have carried out illegal real estate transactions, and the property in question, including the monastery in which he lives, has been temporarily confiscated. Indian government circles also accused him of being a "Chinese spy". He, the Dalai Lama and the Chinese government rejected the suspicions, while voices in the Indian press suspected political motives behind the investigation. There was a dispute between the regional government of the state of Himachal Pradesh and the Indian central government over how to deal with the allegations; while the central government wanted to close the investigation soon, it continued at the state level. At the beginning of December 2011, formal charges were brought against Orgyen Thrinle Dorje and nine other accused before a regional court, the talk is of forgery of documents, money laundering and conspiracy ("Conspiracay"). In mid-April, the regional government moved to withdraw the charges against Orgyen Thrinle Dorje in order not to harm “the religious sentiments of the people”. The court approved the withdrawal in May 2012. The criminal case against the other accused, including close associates of Orgyen Thrinle, is continuing.

Allegations 2019

In January 2019, accusations of a woman alleging that she had been sexually exploited by Orgyen Thrinle Dorje were circulated in the Taiwanese media.
