Theo Breider

Theo Breider (born November 16, 1903 in Effeln , † December 4, 1993 in Münster ) was a writer from the Münsterland.

Breider attended the Rector's School in Medebach and then graduated from the Humanistic College in Lippstadt . He then worked as an employee and in 1935 became managing director of the tourist office in Münster. From 1938 to 1959 he was traffic director in Münster.

Breider also worked for the Aschendorff publishing house and the regional daily newspaper Westfälische Nachrichten in 1949 and 1950 . In 1951 he was involved in the founding of the Münster-Münsterland Association, whose traffic director he remained until 1964.

Breider acquired the "post mill" in 1959 and thus laid the foundation stone for the establishment of the Mühlenhof open-air museum in Münster , which he built with great personal commitment.

He is the author of the Münsterland "Pättkesführer" and is considered the founder of the "Pättkes movement" for cycling in the Münsterland.

Awards

In 1996 the city of Münster named the path to the Mühlenhof open-air museum Theo-Breider-Weg .

Works

Breider wrote Poems in Low German, writing in both Münsterland and Anröchter dialects. He also used the pseudonyms Theudor van dr Haar and Teudaor van d'r Haar .
