Theo Geißler (* 1947 in Gmund am Tegernsee ) is a German publisher (ConBrio-Verlagsgesellschaft), magazine editor ("Neue Musikzeitung - nmz", "politik und Kultur", "Oper und Tanz", "Jazz-Zeitung"), Radio presenter at Bayerischer Rundfunk (music magazine “taktlos”, “contrapunkt - European dialogue”) and author .

Life

After studying German , philosophy and history in Regensburg , he graduated from the Munich University of Television and Film , then worked as an author and director for children's programs on Bavarian television. From 1967 Geissler worked as an editor for nmz (at that time still: "Musical Youth"); In addition, there was public relations work for the “ Jugend musiziert ” competitions and the Jeunesses Musicales. In 1977 he took over the editorial coordination of nmz, in 1986 the chief editor. From 1987 to 1993 he headed the Gustav Bosse Verlag and was also editor of nmz. In 1993 he founded ConBrio Verlagsgesellschaft as an independent publishing group.

Since 1999 Geißler has also been the publisher of the magazines "Oper & Tanz", the " Jazzzeitung ", publisher of "Contributions to Gregorian chant", and since 2002 together with Olaf Zimmermann publisher of " Politik & Kultur " (puk), the newspaper of the German Cultural Council . He works as an author and presenter for Bayerischer Rundfunk, at times also for MDR and WDR. Since 1998 he has moderated the live music magazine “taktlos” for Bayern 2 , since 2002 also “contrapunkt - west-eastern dialogue”, together with Frank Kämper, Deutschlandfunk . Together with Olaf Zimmermann ( German Cultural Council ) he publishes the book series for the magazine “politik und kultur” and the “Contributions to Gregorian chant ”. From 2001 to 2009, Geißler was a member of the Franco-German Cultural Council appointed by the Foreign Office .
