Theodor Alexander Nühsmann (born March 8, 1885 in Celle ; † February 1, 1962 in Oberaudorf ) was a German physician and doctor for ear, nose and throat diseases .

Life and work

He graduated from high school in 1903 in Braunschweig. Then in the same year Nühsmann entered the Kaiser Wilhelms Academy for military medical education in Berlin. In the same year he received military training on foot with the 4th Guards Regiment . In 1908 he was appointed junior doctor and posted to the Charité for further training. In 1909 the state medical examination was passed. This was followed by a doctorate with a thesis on techniques for surgery in the abdominal cavity, Talma-Drummond-Murchison's operation for ascites , to doctor medicinae .

After the end of the First World War , Nühsmann came to the University of Halle , where he completed his habilitation as assistant to Alfred Denkers in 1921 in the field of ear, nose and throat medicine. From 1926 to 1934, as chief physician, he headed the ENT medicine clinic in Dortmund . Without the involvement of the medical faculty, he was then appointed full professor and director of the University Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic in Bonn in 1934. It was 1941 in which he moved to the University of Strasbourg , where he stayed until 1945. Here Horst Ludwig Wullstein was one of his senior physicians.

In 1946 he turned down calls to Halle and Leipzig . Rather, he ran an ENT practice in Dortmund from 1948 to 1954. In 1947 he became commissioner at the University of Würzburg and in 1958 formally retired as professor.

From 1919 to 1925 he was a member of the Stahlhelm , from 1930 a member of the Sturmabteilung SA and a financial sponsor of the NSDAP .
