Theodor Kern (painter)
Theodor Kern (born July 10, 1900 in Salzburg , † February 28, 1969 in Hitchin , England ) was an Austrian painter.
Life
Theodor Kern studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna . From 1923 he was a close colleague of Anton Faistauer . In 1926 he worked for Faistauer on the frescoes in the foyer of the Festspielhaus in Salzburg and on the frescoes in the church in the Morzg district . Since Theodor Kern helped persecuted friends to flee when Austria was annexed in 1938 , he himself was in danger and fled to England in 1938, where he died in 1969.
Works
- In 1926, Kern was commissioned to paint the frescoes for the in-house church of the Hallein school sisters.
- In 1931 Kern painted two frescoes for the parish church in Seeham
- In 1927 or 1928 he painted the frescoes in the Holy Cross Chapel of the Grafenhof lung sanctuary in Sankt Veit im Pongau of the people's association for the fight against tuberculosis in the state of Salzburg .
