Theodor Leopold Friedrich von Kleist (born May 17, 1815 in Stolp , † January 22, 1886 ) was a Prussian manor owner and politician.

He was a member of the noble von Kleist family and was the third son of the Prussian major and postmaster of Stolp Leopold Friedrich von Kleist (1780-1837) and his wife Wilhelmine, née von Blanckensee (1788-1867). He had several siblings, including the younger brother Ewald Christian Leopold von Kleist (1824–1910), who rose to become general of the infantry in the Prussian army.

Theodor von Kleist came to the cadet corps , then served in the 9th Infantry Regiment and retired as Prime Lieutenant in 1850 .

In 1849, after the death of his relative Georg Joachim Wilhelm von Kleist and through assignment by his brothers, he acquired the largest part of the Schmenzin manor in the Belgard district in the back Pomerania . He bought the other part of the estate in 1853. He built the Schmenzin mansion, which was completed in 1857.

In 1854 he became a member of the newly formed Prussian mansion on presentation of the old and fortified properties in the Duchy of Kassuben countryside .

He also served in the Landwehr , where he became major in 1860 . He took part in the German War in 1866 and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 4th class with swords .

However, Theodor von Kleist got into financial difficulties and had to sell his Schmenzin estate in 1868. The buyer was his relative, Conrad Graf von Kleist , which meant that the property remained in the family. By selling the property, Theodor von Kleist also lost his seat in the Prussian manor house. He then lived in Switzerland, in Nice and most recently mostly in his native town of Stolp .

He was married to Marie von Petersdorff (* 1817), a daughter of District Administrator Friedrich von Petersdorff . The marriage resulted in two sons and four daughters. The daughter Hedwig von Kleist (1840–1926) married Hermann von Blomberg (1836–1924 ) in 1860 , who was promoted to general of the infantry.
