Thermphos International was a Dutch chemical company based in Vlissingen . Thermphos manufactured inorganic phosphorus compounds and was the only producer of elemental phosphorus in the EU.
In 2005, the company achieved annual sales of around EUR 550 million and employed around 1,200 people worldwide. It has been in bankruptcy since November 2012. Most parts of the company have already been sold to foreign investors. The main plant is struggling with the disposal of contaminated sites. The German plants were bought by Italmatch Chemicals in 2013 .
Locations
In Germany, Thermphos acted as Thermphos Deutschland GmbH with headquarters and a production site in the Höchst industrial park in Frankfurt am Main and a production site in the Knapsack chemical park in Hürth ; it also owned Omnisal GmbH in Wittenberg . In France, the company owned two productions under the umbrella of Thermphos France SARL, one in Épierre and one in Fos-sur-Mer . There were also three plants in Great Britain, here under Thermphos UK Ltd. in Widnes , Oldbury and Newport . There are pure sales centers in Louvain-la-Neuve ( Belgium ), Castiglione delle Stiviere ( Italy ), Zug ( Switzerland ) and Barcelona ( Spain ). In Asia, Thermphos has a production facility in Xuzhou , China, and sales centers in Shanghai , Tokyo ( Japan ) and Singapore . A South American production facility is located in Buenos Aires , and there is also a sales center in São Paulo . In North America, there are sales centers in Anniston and Matawan .

Product range
The range of products from Thermphos covers the entire breadth of phosphorus and phosphate chemistry. It ranges from the production of elemental phosphorus to various basic chemicals in phosphorus chemistry such as phosphoric acid and polyphosphoric acid, phosphorus chlorides , phosphorus pentoxide , phosphorus pentasulfide (at the Knapsack Chemical Park), aluminum orthophosphate , calcium phosphate , ammonium phosphate , potassium phosphate , sodium phosphate and additives for a wide variety of plastics and ceramics Products of the food and animal feed industry.
