Thibaut Favrot comes from Strasbourg and starts for the local ski club.
Two weeks after his 15th birthday, he contested his first FIS races in France . In January 2012 he made his debut in the downhill from Val-d'Isère in the European Cup . In February 2013 he took part in his first Junior World Championship in Québec , but did not get beyond the ranks 20 and 33 in slalom and downhill . A year later he started in Jasná in all five disciplines, whereby he achieved his only top 10 result with eighth place in the super combined . In December 2013 he won the silver medal in his favorite giant slalom at the Universiade in Pozza di Fassa .
After several winters with moderate European Cup results and a second place in the South American Cup , he made his World Cup debut in the giant slalom in Sölden on October 25, 2015 . In March 2017 he was crowned French giant slalom champion for the first time in Les Deux Alpes . His international breakthrough came in the 2017/18 season when, finishing 24th on the Gran Risa, he not only won his first World Cup points, but also achieved his first top results in the European Cup. After finishing third in Trysil , he celebrated his first victory in St. Moritz in February 2018 . In the discipline classification, he finally finished eighth. His best World Cup result for the time being was 17th in the giant slalom in Garmisch .
With 18th place in the classic giant slalom on the Gran Risa , he qualified in December 2018 for the parallel giant slalom on the next day, where he only lost to Marcel Hirscher in the final and was able to celebrate his first podium in the World Cup with second place.
