Following medical studies, he went to Italy , where he studied in Padua , Pisa , Florence and other places. In 1587 he went to Gottorf Castle , where he was appointed physician to Philipp von Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf . After his death in 1591 he went to the University of Copenhagen as a professor of mathematics.
