plant

Thomas Henke uses filmic media to visualize life plans and self-descriptions of people who are in extraordinary or particularly formative situations. Through the camera recording, he creates a specific form of encounter, mediation and rapprochement between individuals. A maximum of experimental freedom applies both in dealing with the medium and in relation to the participation of the portrayed. Particularly personal and intimate moments of self and other perception are created and at the same time the paradoxical and artificial conditions of media observation and the subjective camera view are reflected. In this way, Henke questions the practices and demands of traditional documentary filming, as well as making reference to current forms of representation in popular culture. The task of singular authorship with regard to the production and presentation of the videos through cooperation with the people shown or other artists is typical for Henke. However , he does the editing, montage and finishing of the films himself.
