Thomas Lennartz
Thomas Lennartz (born July 31, 1971 in Hanover ) is a German church musician , organist and university professor .
Lennartz studied church music , school music and the organ in Hanover , Cologne and Leipzig . In 1999 he passed the A-exam and in 2002 the concert exam "with distinction". Lennartz took lessons in organ improvisation at the Conservatoire de Paris in 2001/2002 . He also took master classes with Daniel Roth , Wolfgang Seifen , Pierre Pincemaille , Olivier Latry and Ton Koopman, among others . After completing his studies, Lennartz became regional cantor of the Mainz diocese at the St. Martin Basilica (Bingen) in 2003 . On September 1, 2008 he was appointed to the office of Dresden Cathedral Organist.
Since September 2014 Lennartz has been professor for organ improvisation and liturgical organ playing at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater in Leipzig and director of the local church music institute.
Lennartz gives concerts regularly in Europe. His game has been documented in radio and television recordings. He is married to the church musician Johanna Franke.
