Thomas Lindner (born November 16, 1974 in Zeven ) is a German composer, lyricist and singer of the folk rock band Schandmaul and the rock band Weto .

Thomas Lindner made his first musical experiences at the age of four, when his musical talent was discovered by the music teacher as part of early musical education (an institution integrated into the north German preschool system). On her advice he received individual musical lessons, which also included classical piano lessons. However, he later lost interest in music.

After he and his family settled in Puchheim near Munich in 1987, he found his interest in music again in 1989 and his parents gave him a keyboard. This enabled him to have a new experience that later prompted him to found a punk rock band called Nachtschicht . After the singer left the punk band, Lindner took over the vocals, with which the band was able to continue successfully. However, the band broke up after two years.

Lindner completed an apprenticeship as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk and practiced this profession until the beginning of his career as a professional musician.

After a few more or less successful projects, Lindner founded the rock band Weto in 1993 with Martin "Ducky" Duckstein, who played electric guitar, and they have officially released four records. Lindner decided to sing exclusively in German and not in English in order to be able to better express himself and his feelings. He took classical singing lessons and also found an interest in piano playing again . He later learned acoustic guitar and accordion .

On a whim, he got involved in a "fun project" that deals with folk rock . Various bands from this genre were covered , which Lindner didn't like. So in 1998 the band Schandmaul was founded , which works exclusively with their own compositions. In this band he is active as a singer, guitarist, accordion and piano player as well as composer and lyricist.

Due to the development of the Schandmaul group, Weto had become quiet and the band no longer seemed to exist. The genre of music in which Schandmaul moves did not allow the realization of many compositional ideas and texts by Thomas Lindner, so that in 2005 he decided to activate the band Weto again. A first public appearance at the Funkenflug Festival initiated by Schandmaul in December 2005 confirmed this decision. In a partial new formation Weto produced in which since besides Lindner and "Ducky" the two Schandmaul musicians Matthias Richter and Stefan Brunner and the Regicide - keyboarder Heiner Jaspers play in 2006, a new sound carrier named The 2weite I .

In 2013 he spoke to Lennart, one of the main characters in the Dark Future radio play series HumAnemy . In 2015 he took on a supporting role in the thriller radio play Downwards based on the novel by Frank Göhre for the film of the same name. Both projects for the Lindenblatt Records company were directed by his brother Stefan Lindner.
