Thomas Meissner (* 26. March 1991 in Schweinfurt ) is a German footballer who in the defense primarily as a center-back is used.
Career
Meißner began his career in the youth of the lower-class club FC Blau-Weiß Donnersdorf and then moved to 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 . In the summer of 2006 he moved to the youth team of TSV 1860 Munich , for which he was also used in the U-19 Bundesliga . In the summer of 2009 he moved to league competitor 1. FSV Mainz 05 . At the end of the season he made the jump into the squad of the second team. From the 2010/11 season he was a regular player and later team captain of the second team.
For the 2012/13 season, Meißner was signed by Borussia Dortmund for 150,000 euros and signed a one-year contract. He was primarily committed to the second team in the 3rd division , but trained with the professionals after the summer break. On July 21, 2012, the 1st matchday of the 2012/13 season , Meißner made his debut in professional football when he was in the starting line-up in the away game against VfL Osnabrück (0-2).
After two years at Borussia Dortmund II, he moved to league rivals MSV Duisburg on a free transfer . There he signed a contract until summer 2016 with an option for another season. On July 26, 2014 (1st matchday of the 2014/15 season ) Meißner completed his first league game for MSV Duisburg in the 1: 3 defeat against Jahn Regensburg . He developed into a solid regular player in central defense. With the third best defense in the league (40 goals conceded), his team rose to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2015.
After relegated to the third division, he left MSV Duisburg in the summer of 2016 and joined the Dutch first division club ADO Den Haag . He played 38 league games for ADO and was loaned to Willem II at the end of January 2018 . At the end of June 2018 he was finally committed. His contract runs until 2021.
