Thomas Ower (born December 27, 1985 in Villingen-Schwenningen ) is a German ice hockey goalkeeper who was most recently under contract with EV Regensburg from the Oberliga Süd .

Career

Originally from the offspring of the Schwenninger ERC , Ower switched to the Blue Devils Weiden in summer 2002 . There he was used in 2002/03 mainly in the junior team in the junior national league, but also in the senior league for seniors. For the following season 2003/04 the goalkeeper joined as a production license player in the German Hockey League to the Freiburger wolves , where he was also eligible to play for the Schwenninger ERC.

After the relegation of Freiburg in the 2003/04 season , Ower stayed with Schwenninger ERC for the 2004/05 season , before moving to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers in summer 2005 , of which he was also used by cooperation partner Blue Devils Weiden. In the 2005/06 season the left catcher played in the major league for the Blue Devils Weiden and at the same time alternated as a promotional licensed player with Lukas Lang as the back-up goalkeeper for the Ice Tigers in the DEL. Due to good performance Ower was the sole number one goal in the Blue Devils goal in the following season and was one of the best goalkeepers in the league. In 2007/08 Ower played for the Tölzer Löwen with a license from the first division club ERC Ingolstadt .

For the 2008/09 season Ower signed a contract with the DEL team Frankfurt Lions . For the 2008/09 season he received a license to support the Wölfe Freiburg in the 2nd Bundesliga. After the 2008/09 season , Ower extended his contract in Frankfurt for one season. When the contract was extended, it was announced that Ower will be given a production license as in the previous season, but no club has yet been found. Ower later received a license for the Hanover Indians .

At the end of January 2010, Ower then switched entirely to the Hanover Indians and received a contract until the end of the 2010/11 season. After almost three seasons with the Indians and an average goal conceded of just 2.74 goals per game in the 2011/12 season, Thomas Ower signed a contract for the 2012/13 season with the EC Rote Teufel Bad Nauheim . In his first season there, he was the first goalkeeper in the league and rose to the DEL2 with his club . In the 2013/14 season , Ower was number one before he was injured and was out for a long time. The Red Devils then signed Jan Guryca , who then established himself as a regular goalkeeper and should also take this role for the next season. Ower left Bad Nauheim after the season. In August 2014 he signed a contract with the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League, who were looking for a substitute goalkeeper behind Mathias Lange after the long-term failure of Daniar Dshunussow .

Inline hockey

In the summer of 2005 Thomas Ower was a participant in the DEB selection at the Inline Hockey World Championship in Finland, which is organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF . The goalkeeper also took part with the German national inline hockey team at the IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship 2006 in Budapest and at the IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship 2007 in Landshut and Passau , where he won the bronze medal with the team.
