Thomas Sebastian Byrne (born July 28, 1841 in Hamilton , Ohio , USA , † September 4, 1923 in Nashville , Tennessee ) was Bishop of Nashville .

Life

Thomas Sebastian Byrne attended St. Thomas Seminary in Bardstown , Kentucky . Byrne studied Catholic theology and philosophy at Mount St. Mary's Seminary of the West in Cincinnati and the Pontifical North America College in Rome . He received on 22 May 1869, the sacrament of Holy Orders . Byrne then taught at Mount St. Mary's Seminary of the West in Cincinnati.

On May 10, 1894, Pope Leo XIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Nashville. The Archbishop of Cincinnati , William Henry Elder , ordained him episcopal on July 25 of that year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Columbus , John Ambrose Watterson , and the Bishop of Covington , Camillus Paul Maes .
