Career

Childhood and successes as a junior rider

In his childhood, his love was football, it was only when the show jumper Frederik Knorren and his ponies came to the Weinberg family stable that Thomas Weinberg's ambition was awakened and he devoted himself entirely to equestrian sport.

At the age of 14 he rode the first jumps in the advanced class. In the same year he won his first S-class at the Rhenish Junior Championships, which he won when he participated for the first time. With his victory he qualified for the German Junior Championship in Elmlohe , where he was German junior runner-up. He was then appointed to the German C-squad (juniors).

In 2001 he started in Lummen in his first Nations Cup (the juniors), which he won with the German team. At the end of the year he achieved his first successes in international senior sport at the Baltic Horse Show in Kiel . In 2002, at the age of 15, he defended his title at the Rhenish championships and won again. In the same year he started his second Nations Cup in Reims , which he won with the team. In the same year he was placed at the Düsseldorf Masters.

In 2003, Weinberg became Rhenish champions for the third time in a row and also won his first international Grand Prix in Fontainebleau . In Hagen he won another Nations Cup with the German team and was awarded the Golden Riding Badge at the end of the year.

Weinberg won his fourth title at the Rhenish championships in 2004. With his sixth place in the Dortmund championship , he was also able to draw attention to himself in the senior sector. With the team he won the silver medal at the European Championships in Vilamoura . In the following year, Weinberg came second in the final of the German Championship and also achieved international success at the Düsseldorf Masters. Several placings, including a victory at the CHIO Aachen , made 2005 the highlight of Thomas's career so far.

Success as a young rider

In 2006 he won his fifth title as Rhenish champion, meanwhile starting in the age group of young riders, and returned from the European championship of young riders in Athens with team bronze. This year he already competed in a Nations Cup (in the rider age group) at the CSIO 4 * -W Podebrady in the Czech Republic.

After graduating from high school in 2007, he was stationed as a mounted soldier at the Bundeswehr Sports School in Warendorf . In 2008 at the European Championships in Prague with Escobar he was Vice European Champion of Young Riders.

Further career

In 2009, Weinberg was no longer considered a young rider and was now only active in the rider age group. This year he made the jump to the B2 squad, and he was also appointed to the perspective squad of German show jumpers.

In April 2011, Weinberg was ranked 139 in the world. He continued to be a member of the German B2 squad in 2011.
