Helena Stormanns (* 31 December 1963 in Sheffield as Helena Dickinson ) is a German show jumper British origin, mainly under the name Helena Weinberg is known.

Life

Youth and first successes

Helena Dickinson was born in 1963 in Sheffield, England, to Sonja and Bruce Dickinson. Her older brother is Paul Bruce Dickinson , the lead singer for the band Iron Maiden . In 1977 she took part in an international competition for the first time in show jumping. In 1979 she won silver at the European Pony Championships in show jumping. 1983 followed bronze in the individual and gold with the team at the European Championships for young riders. In 1984 silver followed with the team in Cervia (Italy).

In 1986 she took part in the World Cup finals with Just Malone for the first time . She achieved these successes for Great Britain .

Move to Germany

In the mid-1980s she came to Germany and in 1987, by marrying Peter Weinberg, she received German citizenship and his family name. Since then she started for Germany. Together with Peter Weinberg she ran a sales stall in Herzogenrath , they have a son ( Thomas Weinberg ) and a daughter (Andrea Weinberg). Both are now successful in show jumping themselves.

Shortly after the birth of her son in 1987, Helena Weinberg won the German Championships of the Amazons for the first time . She was able to repeat this success in 1988, 1990 and 1995. In addition, she achieved many victories and placements in Nations and Grand Prix as well as World Cup competitions. She was the winner of the Grand Prix of Rome, London (Olympia) , Frankfurt , Cannes, Wiesbaden, Kiel , Poznań and Gijón. She also won the World Cup competitions in Berlin and London (Olympia) and was the winner of the Queen's Cup, Hickstead . In 1998 she was a substitute rider for the Germans at the World Equestrian Games in Rome. In total, she won six Nations Cups for Great Britain and 18 for Germany.

In August 2005, Helena Weinberg and her current husband - Tim Stormanns, a show jumper from Aachen - bought and renovated a facility in Eschweiler , where they have lived since then. They married in July 2006 and a son, Tony, was born in January 2008. With the marriage she took the name Stormanns. Tim Stormanns was three times Rhenish champion in show jumping and works together with his wife as an instructor and trainer.

Return to sport and coaching activities

After a four-year break due to pregnancy and injury, she competed in a jumping competition in the advanced level for the first time in March 2010 at the "Gut Neuhaus Indoors". Her first international success after the break came with a third place in the first Grand Prix of the Gera Summer Meeting 2010 (CSI 1 *) with Naomi .

At the beginning of May 2010, Helena Stormanns held a horse show for the first time on her facility in Eschweiler, participants are Roger-Yves Bost, John Whitaker, Denis Lynch, Cian O'Connor and many riders. Further events followed, advertised internationally for the first time in 2012. In 2015 a CSI  3 * tournament was organized.

In the meantime, Helena Stormanns is working as a trainer: In 2017 she became Chef d'Equipe of New Zealand in show jumping, under her leadership the New Zealand show jumpers achieved their first ever Nations Cup victory in Abu Dhabi . Jessica Springsteen , William Whitaker, Mary Kate Olsen and Danielle Goldstein trained at Helena Stormanns . In 2018 Stormanns is the team manager of the Global Champions League team Miami Celtics.
