Tibor Gallus

Tibor Gallus SJ (born April 5, 1906 in Budapest , † March 26, 1982 in Munich ) was a Hungarian Roman Catholic theologian and priest .

Life

From 1912 to 1916 he attended elementary school in Budapest and Kecskemét , the grammar school from 1916 to 1924 in Kecskemét and Nagybecskerek . After graduating from high school in 1924, he entered the novitiate in Pécs . The novitiate was followed by the usual training: 1926–1929 Philosophy in Szeged , 1929–1931 Interstiz in the “Pius” College in Pécs, then 1931–1935 Theology in Innsbruck , where he was ordained a priest on July 26, 1934 . After graduating from tertiary level , he was a theology lecturer at the Collegium Germanicum et Hungaricum for 10 years . From 1948 he lived in the Biblicum and prepared his doctorate on the mariological interpretation of the Proto-Gospel (Gen 3:15) in the post-Patriotic period. From 1951 to 1956 he taught theology in Messina at the “Istituto Teologico-Filosofico” of the Society of Jesus. Afterwards he was the chaplain of the sisters in Lucelle between 1956 and 1962 . From 1962 to 1969 he was professor for the New Testament at the seminary in Klagenfurt . Since then he has been the chaplain in the children's home and holiday home of the Brothers of Mercy in Kostenz .
