life and career

Tiffany Boone was born in the city of Baltimore. She was raised by her mother alone for much of her childhood after her father was shot dead in 1991 when she was in his early 20s. Boone attended the Baltimore Training School of the Arts in her hometown and then from 2006 the California Institute of the Arts , which she graduated from in 2009. In 2006 she also took on her first role in front of the camera, as Briana in the independent film Hamilton .

Then a few years passed before she took on her next role. In the meantime, she was resident advisor on the California Institute campus. In 2011 she was seen as Mimi in the horror comedy Detention - Detention can be fatal . She subsequently appeared in guest roles on television in the series Southland , Suburgatory , Grey's Anatomy and Perception, among others . In 2013 she was cast in a small role in the fantasy film Beautiful Creatures by Richard LaGravenese . In 2014 she was part of the main cast of the second season of The Following series , in which she played the teenage girl Mandy Lang . This was followed by appearances in Major Crimes , Once Upon a Time ... and Complications .

In 2018, Boone was cast as Jerrika Little in one of the leading roles in The Chi series by series creator Lena Waithe . She played the role in the two seasons produced, but left at her own request during the filming of the second season. The reason for this was allegations of harassment that she brought against her series colleague and leading actor Jason Mitchell , which should have been intimidating, among other things. Both the creators of the series and the streaming provider Netflix , with which Mitchell was under contract for a film, reacted by expulsion after allegations were made against Mitchell by other women. In a statement on Instagram, Boone also expressed himself critical of the creators of the series, whom she accused of not having created a work environment in which everyone could feel safe and heard. After leaving the series, she was back in front of the camera in 2020 after she was cast as Roxy Jones in a leading role for the series Hunters of the streaming provider Prime Video . She was also seen in the 2020 drama miniseries Little Fires Everywhere as the younger version of Mia Warren , played by Kerry Washington .
