Tiina Intelmann (born August 25, 1963 , Estonian SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Estonian diplomat . She has been her country's ambassador to the UK since 2017 .

career path

Intelmann completed a master's degree in Italian language and literature at the Leningrad State University by 1987 . She then worked as a teacher and interpreter until she became assistant to the Deputy President of the Estonian Parliament in 1990 .

Intelmann joined the diplomatic service in her country in 1992 as a consultant at the Foreign Ministry . She was responsible for Southern Europe , the Western Balkans and the European Union . As a political officer, she also works in the embassies in Paris and Brussels . In 1995, Intelmann became Deputy Head of Mission and Political Affairs Advisor at the Estonian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York . In 1998 she returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Director of the Political Department for Northern and Central Europe and the Western Balkans.

In 1999 Intelmann was appointed Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Estonia to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna . As State Secretary for Political Affairs and Media Relations, she worked in the Foreign Ministry from 2002. Intelmann moved back to New York in 2005 and was head of the Permanent Mission to the United Nations until 2010. During this time she was, among other things, Chairwoman of the Advisory Committee of the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) for two years and Vice-President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the following year .

From 2010 to 2011 Intelmann was Estonian ambassador to Israel and at the same time non-resident ambassador to Montenegro .

From 2011 to 2014, Intelmann was the first woman President of the Assembly of States Parties to the International Criminal Court in The Hague . She was then head of the European Union delegation in Liberia in the European External Action Service until 2017 .

On November 22, 2017, Tiina Intelmann presented her accreditation as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Queen Elizabeth II in London .
