Tim van Rijthoven (born April 24, 1997 in Rozendaal ) is a Dutch tennis player .

Career

Tim van Rijthoven played on the Junior Tour between 2011 and 2015. There he achieved the best result in the Junior Grand Slam tournaments in 2014, the quarter-finals of Wimbledon and the second round of the 2015 Australian Open . In doubles, he also managed to reach at least the quarter-finals in all Grand Slams except the French Open, and even the semi-finals in Wimbledon 2014, which was lost to the eventual winners Orlando Luz and Marcelo Zormann . In the junior ranking list, van Rijthoven achieved 13th place in March 2015.

Tim van Rijthoven occasionally played on the professional tour from the end of 2013, and achieved his first success in November 2014 when he reached a semifinal in a future . It took until October 2015 before the Dutchman had small successes again: In futures, he managed to reach a semi-final and two finals, one of which he was able to exploit to his first future title. He finished the year at position 600 in the tennis world rankings . At the beginning of 2016, van Rijthoven received a wild card from the tournament management for the qualification of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament , where he was defeated in two sets against Yevgeny Donskoi . He finally had a small breakthrough at the Challenger tournament in Challenger Banque Nationale . Started as a qualifier, he fought his way to the semifinals. The Dutchman was in the top 350 until mid-August, which is why the tournament management of the ATP World Tour tournament in Winston-Salem gave him a wildcard for qualification. Although he lost to Radu Albot in round two , he moved up into the main draw as a lucky loser and thus made his debut on the World Tour. Here he was defeated by Jiří Veselý in three sets. Davis Cup

Tim van Rijthoven had his premiere for the Dutch Davis Cup team in 2015 when he lost to Switzerland in the dead rubber match against Henri Laaksonen . In 2016 he won his first Davis Cup victory against Mikael Ymer in a match that was also no longer decisive given the score of 4-0.
