Timo Kümmel

Timo Kümmel (born June 5, 1980 in Fulda ) is a German illustrator and artist . His pictures and works are primarily attributable to the fantastic .

biography

Timo Kümmel grew up in Weyhers (Ebersburg). From 1999 to 2001 he attended the technical college for design at the Ferdinand-Braun-Schule in Fulda. At the vocational school for wood sculptors in Bischofsheim an der Rhön , he completed an apprenticeship as a wood sculptor journeyman until 2004. From 2005 he studied free painting and graphics for four semesters at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe with Elke Krystufek , Thomas Zipp and Corinne Wasmuht .

Since 2008 he has been working as a freelance artist in Berlin and has worked for the publishers Bastei Lübbe , Piper , Atlantis , Fabylon , Basilisk, Torsten Low, Papierverzierer, Aufbau , Ullstein , Amrûn , Rowohlt , Zoch and Thienemann-Esslinger , among others .

In 2011 he was for his cover art to the boom Dirk van Roman Emperor Warrior: The arrival with the Kurd Lasswitz price excellent, he the boom novel in 2015 for his cover art to Dirk van Kaiser Warriors: Rising Sun won again.

In 2017, his cover photo for Torsten Scheib's novel Götterschlacht was awarded the Vincent Prize .
