Bernd Perplies (born February 28, 1977 in Wiesbaden ) is a German writer , translator and journalist .

Life

at the Comic Con Germany in Stuttgart 2017

Bernd Perplies studied film studies , German , book studies and psychology in Mainz . He was then employed by the German Film Institute in Frankfurt am Main , for which he was editor of filmportal.de between 2004 and 2009 . In addition, he works u. a. as editor for Space View magazine and as translator for Heel Verlag , Pegasus Spiele and Cross Cult . His debut novel Tarean - Son of the Fluchbringers was published in 2008. The novel reached 3rd place at the “German Fantasy Prize” 2009 in the category “Best German-language debut novel”. His opening novel of the Magierdämmerung trilogy ( For the Crown ) took 2nd place at the RPC Fantasy Award in the "Literature & Comics" category at the 2011 Role Play Convention . For the short story Der Automat , Perplies was awarded the “German Fantastic Prize” for the best short story at the Book Fair Convent 2013. Two years later he received the award in the category "Best German-language novel" for the novel Imperium der Drachen - The Blood of the Black Lion .

At the Perry Rhodan World Con 2011, Bernd Perplies found out about the new Perry Rhodan series Perry Rhodan NEO and applied for a job . His first novel in the series was published in April 2012. Since then he has occasionally been a guest writer for this franchise .

In the summer of 2016, Perplies published the Star Trek - Prometheus trilogy of novels , the first officially licensed Star Trek novels by German authors, together with his long-time colleague Christian Humberg .

Bernd Perplies is a member of the Fantastic Author Network (PAN). He lives with his family near Stuttgart.
