The Manticore-Verlag is a German book and RPG publisher based in Frankfurt , which was founded in 2008 by Nicolai Bonczyk. The publishing program of the small publishing house consists of novels, role play systems and play books from the fantasy genre. The publisher's name alludes to the mythical creature manticore , which appears frequently in this area.

history

Mantikore-Verlag was founded in 2008 by role player and hobby author Nicolai Bonczyk as an extension of his online shop for role-playing and fantasy game books. He began with the idea of reissuing older and well-known role play books and publishing new works. He began contacting the British fantasy author Joe Dever , who had written the first book in the game book series Lonely Wolf in 1984 . Bonczyk took over the new edition of these classics with Mantikore from 2009 and added further volumes that have not been published in German until now. In addition to play books, Mantikore-Verlag publishes novels from the fields of fantasy, horror and science fiction .

The Mantikore-Verlag has been organizing its own role-playing convention, the annual MantiCon, in the Starkenburg youth hostel in Heppenheim since 2012 .

With Rock'n Rodeo: The Festival Manager , the publisher also released a board game by game designer Matthias Stark in 2014.
