Tobias Breer

Tobias Breer O.Praem. (Born June 1, 1963 in Werne ) is a German regular canon and competitive athlete .

Life

Andreas Breer grew up in Werne, where his family still lives today. At the age of 14 he lost his mother. After graduating from high school, he completed an apprenticeship as a wholesale and retail salesman and was subsequently active in this profession. After completing his military service, he obtained his Abitur at the Friedrich-Spee-Kolleg in Neuss from 1984 to 1987 and then joined the Premonstratensians in Hamborn Abbey , where he took the religious name Tobias . After the novitiate in 1988 he began studying theology at the University of Innsbruck . In addition, he studied philosophy and psychology . Two years later he moved to Munich , where he completed his studies in 1994 with a licentiate .

While still a student he was ordained a deacon in 1993 and worked as a pastor at the Air Force Officer's School in Fürstenfeldbruck and at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . Following his ordination on September 29, 1994, he was deployed as a military chaplain at various other Bundeswehr locations until 2004 . From 1995 to 2004 he was also prior and in 1997 also became treasurer of Hamborn Abbey. Since then, as chief financial officer, he has been managing the considerable budget of the priestly monastery, which has a large complex of buildings, has age and handicapped-friendly housing facilities for older confreres and whose convent consists of 20 to 30 men (2014: 29; 2019: 21).

Tobias Breer is known as the “marathon father” because he has been a competitive athlete and has completed three to four marathons and one ultra marathon every year . Among other things, he uses these events to win funds for his projects as a sponsored runner. In this way, Breer collects donations of around 30,000 euros annually.

In 2007 he founded the Lebenswert project , which is committed to helping people in need in the north of Duisburg , and has been leading it ever since. The project now has the legal form of a GmbH and has several sub- projects and companies, including a social café. It publishes the magazine LebensWerte News , of which the responsible publisher and editor-in-chief is Tobias Breer.

He also is at the center of competence human managers and executives from the business community as a pastor and as a spiritual and personal contact and coach and disposal. He is a spiritual advisor to the Ruhr area diocesan group of the Federal Association of Catholic Entrepreneurs (BKU).

Since 2008 Tobias Breer has been pastor of the Herz-Jesu congregation in Duisburg - Neumühl , while maintaining his other activities .
