Tobias Schwartz

Tobias Schwartz (born July 9, 1976 in Osnabrück ) is a German writer , playwright and translator .

Life

Tobias Schwartz grew up in the Grafschaft Bentheim district . In 1997 he moved to Berlin and studied philosophy and literature at the Free University .

Schwartz writes novels, short stories and plays. In the independent Berlin theater scene, he has presented his texts in the form of performances and staged readings since 2006, including the play Hindukush in the Theaterdiscounter , the prose text Nacht, reflecting at the 100 Grad Festival and the piece Destille in an installation in the Sophiensaele (and in the Kreuzberg pub of the same name). It was staged as a staged reading at the Maxim Gorki Theater in June 2013 under the direction of Armin Petras . In 2017, Schwartz's play The Door Is Not Locked was presented in parallel in Hamburg and Berlin, with Ilse Ritter taking on the leading role in Berlin .

Schwartz's debut novel Film B was published in 2007 by Satyr Verlag . A stage version of Film B premiered in April 2008 at the Volksbühne Berlin . At the Hans-Otto-Theater in Potsdam he set up, among other things, the stage monologue How it was in a sentence and the play Kunstverein . Schwartz's pieces are published by Per H. Lauke Verlag in Hamburg.

Schwartz lives in Berlin.
