Tomáš Kmeť (born December 1, 1981 in Poprad , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak volleyball player .

Career

Kmeť has been playing volleyball since 1994. First he was trained in a boarding school before going to Petrochema Dubová and winning the national championship in 2001. In the 2003/04 season he played for Gwardia Breslau before moving to Mostostal Kędzierzyn within the Polish league . In 2006 the aon hotVolleys Vienna signed the Slovaks, with whom they won the Austrian championship twice in 2007 and 2008. Then Kmeť spent a year with the Italian second division team Castellana Grotte before returning to Vienna. In 2010 he joined Generali Haching in the German Bundesliga . There he won the DVV Cup and gained further experience in the Champions League . With the Slovak national team , he won the European league in 2008 and 2011 . At the European Championship , the team came as group winners in the quarter-finals, where it was defeated by the defending champion Poland . Then, as the second-best blocker in the Bundesliga, Kmeť switched to the Berlin Recycling Volleys , with which he became German champions in 2012 , 2013 and 2014 . In 2016 he won the DVV Cup , the CEV Cup and the German Championship . After that, Kmeť ended his career.
