Tomáš Starosta (born May 20, 1981 in Trenčín , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Dukla Trenčín in the Slovakian extra league since July 2017 .
Career
Tomáš Starosta began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of HC Dukla Trenčín , for whose professional team he was active from 1999 to 2005 in the Slovak extra league and with whom he became Slovak champion in the 2003/04 season . He also ran in the 1999/2000 season in parallel in four games for HC Dukla Senica in the second-class first division . Towards the end of the 2004/05 season he moved to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk in the Russian Super League , where he was under contract for the following five seasons (from the 2008/09 season in the newly founded Continental Hockey League ).
For the 2010/11 season Starosta was obliged by Neftechimik's league rivals Salawat Yulayev Ufa . After a season in Ufa, in which he won the Gagarin Cup with Salawat Julajew , he moved to HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk . For HK Ugra, he played over 130 games in the following three seasons before returning to Slovakia in September 2014 and being signed by HC Slovan Bratislava .
In the 2016/17 season Starosta was used parallel to the KHL in the Extraliga with Dukla Trenčín and moved permanently to his home club in July 2017.
International
For Slovakia , Starosta took part in the junior division in the U18 World Junior Championship in 1999 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 2000 and 2001 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 2007 , 2008 and 2010 World Championships .
