life and career
Tom McArdle began his career as an editor in the early 1990s with a work for director Nick Gomez. McArdle mainly works for independent productions. In the 1990s he oversaw smaller films such as Handgun - Hunting through New York , Paranoia - Alone with the Killer or Hi-Life in Manhattan . Since 2003 he has also been responsible for all films by director Tom McCarthy as editor. Including for the award-winning cinema productions Station Agent with Peter Dinklage , A Summer in New York - The Visitor with Richard Jenkins or Win Win with Paul Giamatti in the leading role. For Tom McCarthy's most recent production, the drama Spotlight, starring Mark Ruffalo , Michael Keaton and Rachel McAdams , McArdle received his first Oscar nomination for Best Editing at the 2016 awards ceremony .
Occasionally Tom McArdle is also active as an editor for documentaries and short films as well as for television, for example for the documentaries A Hole in the Head , Nazis: The Occult Conspiracy or Heckler and the TV film Nadine in Date Land .
