Tom Semmler (born December 10, 1988 in Plauen / Vogtland ) is a German theater and film actor , multi-instrumentalist and voice actor .

Life

He attended the Adolph-Diesterweg-Gymnasium Plauen , where he also sang as a tenor in the chamber choir. At the Plauen-Zwickau theater he played Moritz Stiefel in Spring Awakening for over 65 performances in the youth theater club under the direction of Tamara Korber and was already engaged for various productions as part of the ensemble at the age of 15.

Tom Semmler is a founding member of the Plauen pop'n'roll band 333 . He played drums and sang there from 2007 to 2013. At the 15th Zwickau Music Forum in the old Gasometer , the band was awarded the U21 category.

From 2012 to 2016 Tom Semmler completed his acting training at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media . During the research for his diploma thesis, he sat in Russia with the renowned drama company "Brusnikina" under the direction of the Russian actor, acting professor and honored artist of the Russian Federation Dimitrij Brusnikin at the Chekhov Art Theater in Moscow .

In the last year of his training, Tom Semmler played in the musical theater piece Backbeat - The Beatles in Hamburg directed by Franz-Joseph Dieken at the Altona Theater in Hamburg . He has been a guest at Theater Lübeck since 2016 . In the first German-language theatrical version of the play In der Bar zum Krokodil , which is about the spectacular rise of the Comedian Harmonists and their devastating dissolution, Tom plays the second tenor Erich Collin . In the same year he played the role of Mario at the Altona Theater, among others, in the play At the shorter end of the Sonnenallee in the Altona Theater in Hamburg.

In 2016, he played the role of the landowner Wirad von Boizenburg in the docudrama The Giant of the North - Hamburg's Rise to a World Port . Tom Semmler made his film debut in 2017 in the rape-and-revenge love film Figaros Wolves . Here he played the title character Figaro at the side of Franz Rogowski . The film premiered at the Fantasy Filmfest and also screened at the Transylvania International Film Festival .

In 2017 Tom started working as a voice actor in Berlin. His first role- dubbing was in The Get Down , where he played the role of Marshall Strawbridge. In 2019 Semmler lent his voice as a voice actor to a total of 8 characters in the feature film Free Land . Tom Semmler played Hildendorff in the radio play series Professor van Dusen (the new cases) in 2020.

Tom Semmler lives with his family in Berlin.
