The Condormarca district is located in the Bolívar Province in the La Libertad region in western Peru . The district was established on November 20, 1916. It has an area of ​​323 km². The 2017 census counted 2119 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2526, in 2007 it was 2222. The district administration is located in the 2939  m high village of Nuevo Condormarca with 197 inhabitants (as of 2017). Nuevo Condormarca is located 45 km south-southeast of the provincial capital Bolívar .

Geographical location

The Condormarca district is located on the east bank of the north-flowing Río Marañón in the extreme south of the Bolívar province. Its right tributary Río Lavasen limits the district in the south. The Peruvian Central Cordillera runs along the eastern district border with the watershed to the catchment area of the Río Huallaga further east .

The Condormarca district is bordered to the west by the district Sartimbamba ( province Sánchez Carrión ), to the north by the district Bambamarca , on the east by the district Huicungo ( province of Mariscal Cáceres ) and to the south by the district Pataz ( province of Pataz ).
