Salamander is a television series on the Belgian radio station Eén . The series premiered on December 30, 2012. The German first broadcast took place on October 17, 2013 on FOX Channel , a free TV broadcast on ServusTV .

Jonkhere is a small private bank in Brussels, Belgium. At the beginning of the series, 66 separate safes belonging to a number of the most prominent public figures in Belgium are robbed in it. The owners want to keep the thefts under lock and key to avoid scandals, but Police Inspector Paul Gerardi begins an investigation. Gerardi discovers that the victims are members of a secret organization called "Salamanders" - made up of the country's industrial, financial, legal and political elite - and that the lockers contain their most intimate secrets, some of which date back to World War II. Exposure could endanger the nation and overthrow the government. After the first murders, he becomes the target of criminals and the authorities and must quickly find out who is behind the thefts and what the perpetrators are up to.

Adaptation abroad
According to various sources, a US / Canadian remake under the direction of Paul Haggis is planned. After this adaptation did not materialize, the ABC Studios secured the remake rights. A pilot episode for a possible series was ordered in January 2017 after it was previously announced in November 2016.
Publication on DVD
The first season of the series was released in German-speaking countries by Polyband on July 25, 2014.
