Tom Stern

Tom Stern (born December 16, 1946 in Palo Alto , California ) is an American cameraman .

Live and act

Tom Stern gained his first experience in the film business as a lighting technician in the late 1970s. Until 2002 he was also active as chief lighting technician, in this role he also worked on the film Road to Perdition .

In the same year he made his début as a cameraman with the film Blood Work , but this was not the first collaboration with director Clint Eastwood , as Stern had already worked as a lighting technician on Eastwood films such as Honkytonk Man . A year later, they worked with Mystic River for the second time. Other joint projects followed, for the war film Flags of Our Fathers , shot in 2006 , Stern received a Satellite Award in the Best Camera category. He had already received a nomination for this award for Mystic River . He received a nomination at the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards for the film Letters from Iwo Jima , shot in the same year . For the further collaboration with Eastwood on the drama The Stranger Son (2008) Stern received his first Oscar nomination.
