Larson was also hired by Natla to take the Scion from Lara, as Lara, as Natla correctly suspected, would keep it for herself. After Larson is defeated, the action leads to Greece and Egypt , where the second and third parts of the Scion are located in extensive temple ruins. With the complete Scion in hand, Lara receives a vision in which, to her surprise, she can identify her client as an immortal goddess who is condemned by other gods. But as soon as the vision is over, Lara realizes that she is surrounded by Natla and her gang and is forced to hand over the Scion. After Lara escapes, she hides in the gang's yacht and follows them to an island that serves as the entrance to the fabulous city of Atlantis . There Lara Natla poses to prevent her plan to usher in a new age with the help of an army of monsters.

Apart from the main story, the player can also explore the property of the protagonist, Croft Manor , and solve various tasks there. Opposite the property in the predecessor Legend (whose plot takes place a few years after the Anniversary ) there is an additional garden with a labyrinth , while the inside area has been somewhat restricted in comparison to Legend . Some rooms are under renovation and have to be managed differently.

Game principle and technology

Tomb Raider: Anniversary is controlled from the third-person perspective . The player Lara Croft maneuvers through the game world using a keyboard and mouse or gamepad . Like a jump 'n' run game, Lara can jump and climb to reach areas that are otherwise inaccessible. Occasionally, mechanisms have to be operated to open doors or to set equipment in motion. Lara can defend herself against computer-controlled enemies using her firearms.

Production notes

Since the game is based on the plot of the first part of the series, characters like Zip and Alister, who were introduced in Tomb Raider: The Chronicle and Tomb Raider: Legend , respectively, do not appear. Instead of the magnetic hook from Legend , Lara uses a grappling hook, which she can use to walk along walls. The classic "ring inventory" from the first three parts is also used again. In Anniversary Lara only fights against animals, mythical creatures or dinosaurs , while she only kills people in non-interactive scenes. For this reason, the game is approved for ages 12 and up.

The soundtrack comes from Troels Brun Folmann, who already composed the music for the predecessor Tomb Raider: Legend and later also for the successor Tomb Raider: Underworld .
