chronology
Sin, Sorrow and Sadness ( EP ) Too Bad You're Beautiful The Fiction We Live

Too Bad You're Beautiful is the first music album of the band From Autumn to Ashes . The recordings took place from May 15 to 23, 2001. It was produced by Adam Dutkiewicz and was released on Ferret Records , where it proved to be a great success with 50,000 units sold, leading to a re-release in 2005. From Autumn To Ashes are considered the most successful band in the history of the Ferret label, for the following album they received a contract with the much larger label Vagrant Records .

content

The album mainly contains songs that are typical for the band with frequent loud-quiet changes. Exceptions are the 49-second Mercury Rising , which is almost exclusively vocal "instrumented" and whose text is initially spoken and increasingly shouted towards the end, as well as the song Chloroform Perfume , which was mostly acoustically orchestrated and in a fully acoustic version also on the successful one Punk goes Acoustic compilation by the label Fearless Records is included. Mainly interpersonal relationships are dealt with.

On the album, the band makes several references to the television series Dawson's Creek , for example through the song title Capeside Rock (Capeside is the location of the series) and through samples . In the intro of the song Take Her To The Music Store Katie Holmes can be heard, in her role as Joey, uttering the looped line “You break my heart into a thousand pieces and say it's because I deserve better?” , As well as at the end of Reflections Joshua Jackson ( Pacey , "... I feel like I'm nothing ..." ).

Melanie Wills from the band One True Thing can also be heard as a guest singer on the song Short Stories With Tragic Endings . The more than nine-minute title, which forms the end of the first publication, unites most of the songs characteristic aspects, such as long instrumental parts and screaming parts that suddenly merge into quiet parts and are sometimes accompanied by an acoustic guitar .
