The 1st stage of the Tour de France 2009 on July 4th was a 15.5-kilometer individual time trial . It was the first time trial of the 2009 Tour and ran around Monaco . After almost half of the distance, the drivers drove over a mountain classification of the 4th category, where the Spaniard Alberto Contador was leading in front of the young German Tony Martin . But in the end, time trial Olympic champion Fabian Cancellara from Switzerland was the fastest, making him the first to wear the yellow jersey of this year's tour.
