Company history

František Petrášek (1877–1932) and Vojmír Věchet founded the company Petrášek a Věchet, Továrna motorových automatů in Kukleny in 1919 and began developing automobiles. The brand name should be PAV or Petrá . When the vehicles were first presented at the Prague Motor Show in 1921, the brand name was Start . In 1922 the name was changed to František Petrášek a spol. and the move to Hradec Králové . From 1924 the company was Ing. Fr. Petrášek, Továrna automobilů Start . Production ended in 1931. In 1932, 158 passenger cars and 24 delivery vans of this brand were registered in Czechoslovakia.

The first model was the B . It corresponded to a model by Továrna Automobilů Perfect . A water-cooled V2 engine with 1106 cm³ displacement provided the drive . The C had a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1460 cm³ and an output of 20 hp . The body offered space for four people. Both models had a ladder frame, rigid axles , a three-speed gearbox and aluminum pistons in the engine. The vehicles were offered as limousines , taxis and light delivery vans . An improved version of the C followed in 1926 .

Also in 1926 the D 2 Baby added to the range. An air-cooled two-cylinder engine with 815 cm³ displacement provided the drive. There was a choice of open and closed two, three and four-seaters.

The E 4 appeared in autumn 1928. A water-cooled four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1453 cm³ and an output of 24 hp propelled the vehicle. In 1929 a model with an air-cooled four-cylinder engine with 1000 cc displacement was presented as a prototype at the Prague Motor Show.
