Traudl Eder , married Reinstadler (born January 29, 1941 in Mittersill ) is a former Austrian ski racer . In her career, which was interrupted several times by injuries, she achieved victories and podiums in national and international races from 1959 to 1966.

biography

Eder took part in a ski race for the first time as a six-year-old and was then promoted by the ski club in her home town of Mittersill . After some time in the team of the Salzburg State Ski Association, she was accepted into the junior and later into the national team of the Austrian Ski Association at the end of the 1950s . In 1959, Eder was three times Austrian youth champion in downhill, slalom and combined in her age group Youth II. Also in 1959 she first drew international attention when she came second in the Abetone descent . In the next winter 1959/1960 she drove in the slalom of Crans-Montana on the second and in the slalom of Abetone on the third place. In the 1960/1961 season Eder achieved second places in the slaloms of Morzine , Zermatt and Mount Etna before suffering her first serious injury. She therefore got into shape late in the following winter of 1961/1962 and was the only podium to achieve third place in the combination of Zermatt.

After another injury, Eder missed the entire 1962/1963 season. Nevertheless, she was able to qualify within the Austrian team for the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck , where she remained a substitute runner and was only used as a forerunner. She achieved her best results of the winter towards the end of the season in Sweden: She finished second in the slaloms of Östersund , Åre and Gällivare (there also second in the combination) and won the slalom in Sollefteå . In the winter of 1964/1965 Eder suffered the next serious injury, which is why she had to take another season off. After that, in the winter of 1965/1966 she only achieved a podium finish as second in the Bad Wiessee slalom . She did not qualify for the 1966 World Cup and then announced her retirement from ski racing.

During her career, Eder met her future husband Adi Reinstadler, who worked under Stefan Kruckenhauser as a trainer for the state-certified ski instructors at the St. Christoph sports center. Together they run a guest house in Jerzens in Tyrol . Her son Gernot Reinstadler , born in 1970 , also became a ski racer. In 1991 he had a fatal accident while training for the Lauberhorn race in Wengen ten days before her 50th birthday.
